Announcement of LINk partners - Action Learning Projects
Date: 04 Mar 2009
Earlier this year, the Government announced that Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) would be funding a small number (3-4) of action learning projects to expand the remit of local involvement networks (LINks) beyond health and social care. This work is based on the commitment set out in the DCLG White Paper, “Communities in Control: Real People, Real Power”, and is being overseen by a project board with members from DCLG, Department of Health and Local Government Association.
DCLG has now announced the four LINks, which will work in partnership with them to explore whether LINks are a good way to give people a say in how other local public services - beyond health and social care - are delivered.
The four LINks are Ealing, Milton Keynes, Northumberland and Stoke-on- Trent. There was a very good response to the announcement of the projects and a very high standard of expressions of interest. The successful sites have been notified and a letter has gone to unsuccessful LINks thanking them for their interest.
The Community Development Foundation (CDF) will be providing support to the sites and will carry out an evaluation of the projects. Information about progress and learning will, at key stages, be made available via LX over the course of the projects.
